This event was held at Maple Bay Yacht Club and had 5 Fireballs competing as Division 7. Conditions at this event were miraculous for Maple Bay, a venue known for light, shifty winds and convergence zones. The wind on Saturday was a glorious 9-12 knots and Sunday was lighter, more typical of that bay.

Organization was wonderful with solid committee work by yacht club volunteers and a great dinner in the burn your own steak format. Rob Thompson/ Francis Westlake won Division 7 with Mark Cummings/ Ryan Jmaef coming in second and Dean Greentree/ Eric Diller getting third. Rounding out the fleet were Evelyn Chishom/ Allan Weber and Art Taylor/ Liana Stammers.

A little slow to report of my travels from BC to ON to attend the Fireball Canadian Nationals as part of the NOD (Nepean One Design) Regatta in Ottawa June 21-23, 2024. With 9 boats on the water planning for 3 days of racing.

Day 1 saw light winds and only 2 classes on the water, Day 2 was a bust with a whole day postponed on shore and Day 3 included real breeze with a front coming through and the Thunder and lightening held off until we finished for the day.

Many thanks to Phil Locker for hosting me and keeping us mostly keel side down on Sunday.

Congratulations to Pierre Carpenter and Tom Bird in first, Joe Jospe and Tom Egli in second and Ian Maclaren and Rune Langsten in 3rd.
